Retina MacBook with DyalogAPL/W

Postby JoHo on Tue Dec 04, 2012 9:09 am

Hello,

Does anyone have experiences running DyalogAPL/W on a MacBookPro with Retina display
under Parallels or VMWare Fusion?

The big question is, if the advantages of the Retina display could be made use of,
or if they are somehow lost in translation?

Greetings,

I use the 15.4 inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display with VMWare Fusion (the latest version) and I run Windows 7 Pro with Dyalog 13.1 Unicode edition. It runs very well and I am able to benefit from the great Display. If you set the network options correctly, the Windows VM will run as a completely separate "machine" with its own IP address.

I also use Parallels on my Macbook Air with Windows 7 Home. VMWare Fusion is a better option in my opinion.

The latest Macbook from Apple is not powerful enough to run VMWare Fusion and Windows. It is barely powerful enough to run Safari. If anyone is planning to buy the latest Macbook - please be warned.
