Why does my session menu only have File, Options, & Help?

Postby Vince|Dyalog on Mon Sep 10, 2012 1:43 pm

This is a default session menu and appears if Dyalog has had trouble finding your session file.

The following is how to fix this, using the UK session file as an example.

The UK session file is called def_uk.dse and is usually located here: C:\Users\<YourNameHere>\Documents\Dyalog APL-64 17.0 Unicode Files\def_uk.dse

Please note: If you are using a different version of Dyalog, please replace 17.0 with the version number that you have installed.

In Options|Configure|Session, look at the setting for Session file. Change it to reflect where it really is (if different).

You can ask Dyalog what the session file parameter (session_file) is set to by:

      +2 ⎕NQ '.' 'GetEnvironment' 'session_file'

If you don’t have a session file, you can create one by running

)load buildse
BUILD_SESSION 'UK'
And then saving the session file somewhere with Session->Save As. Then, follow the instructions at the beginning of this article to set the Session file setting.

Besides 'UK', the other country codes that you could use are the following:
FR IT FI US DE RU

If you have any problems or questions about this procedure, please email us at Dyalog Support.
