Messenger for Dyalog APL Application
Dear Colleagues,
There is a need to incorporate the messenger like functionality
into a Dyalog APL base application (up to 50 workstations per installation). As
usual the feature should be easy to incorporate, manage and localize. :-)
A welcome option is that it should work without Internet -
some institutions limit access to Internet for their employees.
It could be an APL code or a .NET/OCX component (but remember
about localization).
Your help is very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Alexey Miroshnikov

Re: Messenger for Dyalog APL Application
I am wondering:
* You did not ask a particular question.
* The description of what your are looking for is not exactly precise.
* Your remark that it should work "without the Internet" makes it even harder to guess what this is all about.
All in all it looks more like a request for consultancy work. I am not sure what you expect.

Re: Messenger for Dyalog APL Application
Kai, I believe Alexey is looking for a "social networking plugin" for applications written in Dyalog APL - a tool that can be easily integrated in your application, and provides "chat" functionality - ideally without requiring a server that is hosted "on the internet", as users may be explicitly prohibited from using the internet in this fashion. Ideally, the tool should be translatable into several languages (probably including Russian, so it would need to support Cyrillic).
I suspect he is hoping that someone can recommend an existing tool (I would not be surprised if such plugins did exist, although I don't know of any myself - a quick Google search turns up a couple of interesting-looking plugins for Ruby on Rails)...
Or perhaps proposals from people who might be interested in helping develop something together?

Thank you, Morten. You've provided excelent translation from english to English.
The too general "spec" was deliberate - the more ideas the better.
A very good example of the functionally is the "old good" popup utility originated from W95 (not supplied with Windows any more). So called LAN based messenger. However it seems does not sit well with the latest version of Windows and provides only basic user identification - the machine ID and the OS logged used ID. If in my app I got some specific user identification it is hard to use it with that utility.
